Crown Sydney Hotel Resort, Sydney NSW

Structural Design Engineer

Role on the project:

  • Post-tensioned design of the seven podium and mezzanine floors, each floor up to an area of 3,000 square metres.

  • Steel/concrete composite design of the seven podium and mezzanine floors, each floor up to an area of 2,300 square metres.

  • Development of the ‘Post-Tensioned Slab Design Brief’, an in-depth process for the design and drafting process for the delivery of the tower floor plates. The brief meant that consistent slab designs and documentation were able to be produced independently over several offices. This provided value to the client as it allowed for a tight delivery program.

Green Square Towers 5A & 5C, Sydney NSW

Structural Project Engineer

The development at Green Square consists of two residential buildings joined by a common four level car park. Building 5A (named Ovo) consists of twenty-seven stories of residential units and Building 5C consists of 9 stories of both residential units and ground floor retail.

 

Rory’s role was the structural design of the Basement post tensioned floors, the basement hydrostatic slab and the lateral analysis and design of Building 5B. Rory also complete site phase services of his completed designs.

Broadway Shopping Centre, Sydney NSW

Project Structural Engineer

The redevelopment of one of Sydney’s most distinctive shopping centers included, among other things, the complete demolition of a structural floor system to allow for the conversion of 4,000 square meters of carpark space to leasable retail area. 

 

Rory’s key contributions included:

  • Design and co-ordination meetings for the new hundred-meter-long external suspended steel awning.

  • Design of steel/concrete composite infill slabs.

  • Analysis of the loading capacity of an existing PT floor system for alternative loading scenarios.

  • Design of carbon fiber wrap for the confinement of existing reinforced concrete columns.

  • Construction stage services.
