NOTABLE PROJECTS

Bunnings Warehouse, Edwardstown SA

Structural Design Lead Engineer

Structural design for the 18,000 sqm Bunnings Warehouse retail facility in Edwardstown, fully suspended over a 20,000 sqm car parking area. Design included:

  • Economical tapered steel beam and composite slab flooring system capable of supporting large storage loads.

  • Tapered portal frame over complete with welded transfer trusses through the building.

A complex project due to the size and site constraints.

Angas St Carpark, Adelaide SA

Structural Design Lead Engineer

Structural design and documentation for an 8-storey carpark in Adelaide CBD including a rooftop office and basement level. Design included:

  • Custom engineered beam and column analysis and detailing to minimise steel tonnage.

  • Design of precast facade and insitu retaining structures.

  • Design of custom facade supports for architectural ‘kaynemaile’ mesh.

Challenges included retrofitting of the facade supports on the existing structure and designing the building within a space-limited site adjacent to two city roads and a boundary to boundary building envelope.

Royal Darwin Hospital Refurbishment, Tiwi NT

Structural Design Lead Engineer
Structural design and documentation for major construction works at Royal Darwin Hospital’s main building including:

  • Main entry extension and upgrade.

  • Outpatients refurbishment.

  • Emergency department refurbishment.

  • Building additions for new PET and CT scanners.

A challenging project which had to incorporate latent conditions of the existing building and its multiple additions over the 30-year history of Royal Darwin Hospital, the presence of asbestos and lack of original design drawings.
